My mail carrier gave me a wake-up call about my subscription spending
She handed me a stack of magazines with renewal notices and asked if I really needed all 4 of them, and it turned out I was paying $168 a year for stuff I barely read.

Oh, careful there @the_riley - I actually did cancel two of them on the spot (the travel one and the cooking one I hadn't touched in months). But here's the thing that got me: she was totally right about me not reading them, but I kept the other two because one has my son's school project in it (long story) and the other is my guilty pleasure crossword magazine. I'm guessing you're asking because you've been in a similar spot where it's harder to let go than it should be?

Yeah, I used to think subscription renewals were just part of the background noise of life, no big deal. But after seeing how much I was actually throwing away on stuff I didn't care about, it kind of snapped me into reality. Now I actually check the pile before tossing it in the recycling.
