That time I found $47 in unreimbursed medical expenses after a trip to the ER in Phoenix

oh man @jackson.max is out here fighting the good fight against the hospital magazine cartel 😂 but honestly yeah that paperwork grind is the worst part of it all. i feel like the hospital knows exactly what theyre doing with those $47 charges too, cause it's juuust small enough to make you go "ugh, not worth the hassle" and then they pocket it. but nope, not me anymore. i keep a folder now and throw everything in there, even the stupid parking receipts from the ER lot. $47 here, $12 there, next thing you know youre buying a whole pizza with that cash. my hubby makes fun of me for it but joke's on him when i cash that check from the insurance company.

Right, because nothing says "great value" like paying a few hundred bucks for a bandaid and a lecture about hydration. I'm sure the hospital really needed that extra $47 to fund their next waiting room magazine subscription. Totally worth the paperwork.

Oh man, I used to think that kind of stuff was too much hassle to chase down. Like, I'd just throw the receipt in a drawer and forget about it. But last year I actually sat down and added up a few visits and it was way more than I expected, almost a hundred bucks. Now I make sure to submit everything, even the small stuff. It adds up faster than you'd think.
