A brand new client asked me to travel 400 miles for a 20 minute call and then offered to pay me in 'exposure' but also wanted me to cover my own gas

I actually looked up what their 'exposure' was worth using that free calculator site and it came out to like 47 cents an hour, so I just sent them a screenshot of that with a smiley face and asked if they wanted to match it, has anyone else ever had a client get mad at math?

Man, that calculator move was pure gold and honestly they deserved it.

Pure gold" is a stretch. That was just petty, and honestly it made them look worse than the other side. Flipping a calculator around like a gotcha moment screams "I have nothing real to say" and I'd rather have the win than the cheap trick. Never understood why people celebrate getting under someone's skin instead of just being the bigger person.
