Had a client in Phoenix demand a full refund after I finished the entire website 3 weeks early
I spent 80 hours building a site for a small law firm. They paid half up front, the rest due on delivery. I sent the finished product on a Thursday morning. By Friday afternoon, they claimed the colors looked 'off' on their phone and demanded their money back. I had already paid my subcontractor $600 for the backend work. Now I require a signed completion form before sending any final files. Has anyone else had a client try to pull a fast one like that after getting the finished product?

That bit about them claiming the colors looked "off" on their phone really gets me... they waited until the very end to complain about something that small, right when you finished early. I had a client once who loved everything until I sent the final invoice, then suddenly the font was "too small" on their tablet. It's like they hunt for any excuse once they have the files. The signed completion form is smart, I started doing something similar after a guy tried to say I never delivered the login info even though I had the email receipt. Some people just don't want to pay, plain and simple.

i saw a post where a designer started watermarking all final files until payment cleared after getting burned like that.
