Lost a $1,200 retainer because I didn't get a signed contract for a 3 month branding project
Took me about six weeks and a dozen emails to finally admit that guy in Austin was never going to pay, has anyone else had a client just vanish after all that work for nothing?

Did you even try threatening small claims court?

Yeah the "threatening small claims" thing actually worked for me once. I just sent a quick email saying I'd filed the paperwork and they folded within a week.

@oliver_baker49 small claims threats only work if the client has assets or cares about their credit. The guy who ghosted me was a freelancer too, so he probably had nothing to lose. I wasted six weeks on a branding project for a dude in Portland who just stopped answering emails. Sometimes you gotta eat the loss and move on, you know?
