Spent $200 on a premium Fiverr gig for a logo and got clipart from 2010

The guy sent me a logo that was literally a traced stock image with a different font, and when I asked for a revision he ghosted me after I already paid in full, so has anyone else dealt with sellers who just disappear after payment?

...and then my buddy Scott had basically the same thing happen but with a $300 "premium" gig for his restaurant. The guy sent over a logo that was just the default clipart lion from Microsoft Word with a badly kerned font underneath, like Comic Sans but worse. Scott asked for a revision and the dude messaged him back saying "the creative vision is complete" and then full-on vanished, never answered another email. He ended up having to reverse the payment through his bank and it took three weeks to get his money back, which is insane for a logo that took someone ten minutes to trace. That platform is a total gamble, honestly, you can't trust those high-priced gigs just because they cost more.

The creative vision is complete" - that line is gold. I once paid a guy $50 for a logo and he sent back a stick figure with a top hat and a monocle, told me it was "modern surrealism." Dude had this whole spiel about how my business was "stuck in the box" and his design would "break people's minds." I used it as a draft folder icon for a year just to get some use out of it. Scott's story is worse though, $300 for clipart is brutal. At least my guy gave me a story to tell.

Hate that this happened to your buddy, people like that make freelancing look bad.
