Why does nobody talk about adding case study links in proposals?
I lost a $3,000 web design bid last month because I kept my proposal all about what I could DO, not what I had ALREADY done. The winner used a direct link to a similar project they finished in 2023 and the client told me that single click sealed the deal. Has anyone else seen this work better than fluff about your process?

Lost a similar bid last year for the exact same reason. Threw in a link to a past project that was almost identical and it flipped the whole conversation. Made me feel dumb for not doing it sooner.

Is a case study link really gonna save a weak proposal though? I've won bids with nothing more than a few photos on my phone and a short conversation about how I handled a tricky job that went sideways. Clients who need a link to trust you might not be the clients you want anyway. I'd rather lose a bid than hand over a portfolio that gets picked apart while they ignore everything else I said. The real win is getting them to believe you can solve their specific problem, not that you solved someone else's last year. Maybe that other guy just had a lower price or better timing.
