I think everyone overdoes the RGB lighting thing...
Walking through my local electronics shop last week I counted 8 different mouse pads with built-in LEDs. My setup has zero lights and I actually get more done now. The constant glow used to mess with my focus after about 2 hours straight. Anyone else find simple setups work better for real work?

Wait, you're telling me there's a simpler way than downloading three separate apps just to turn my keyboard from red to blue? @taylor.brooke you're blowing my mind with this "pointing a lamp at a wall" witchcraft. My brother's setup looks like a UFO crash landed in his room and he spends more time programming his RGB profiles than actually using the PC. I tried the warm lamp thing last night and now my eyes aren't screaming after an hour of spreadsheet hell. Maybe we should start a support group for people who just want their electronics to be boring.

Threw a cheap IKEA desk lamp behind my monitor angled at the wall. The difference was night and day. Eyes don't feel like sandpaper after a long day anymore.

Simple desk lamps pointed at the wall behind your monitor give better, more even light than any RGB strip ever could. I switched to a single warm-toned LED lamp about two years back and my eye strain dropped off noticeably. Plus you avoid all those cables and software programs just to change colors. Try bouncing a lamp off a white wall and see if the glow works better for you.
