Sat vs standing desk debate: I caved and got a $400 electric riser after 2 years of saying they're overrated

For the longest time I was team fixed desk. My old setup was just a cheap IKEA table with a monitor riser and I swore it was fine. But after 8 months of freelance graphic design my lower back was killing me every evening. So I finally picked up a Flexispot E7 during a sale last month. Now I'm torn because honestly standing all day is kinda tough on my feet and I find myself sitting 70% of the time anyway. But when I do stand I feel way more focused and my back pain is gone. Question is did you go electric riser or just buy a taller desk and a tall stool? Or are you still team fixed desk and just using a footrest? I need to know if the hype is real or if I just wasted space in my spare bedroom.

Did you try different shoes or a mat for standing? Ngl I had the same foot pain at first but a cheap anti fatigue mat from Amazon helped a ton. Honestly the hype is real for the movement option, even if you sit more than you stand.

You tried a mat yet? I got one of those thick rubber ones from a restaurant supply store and it made a huge difference for me. I stand maybe 60% of my day now compared to 20% before because my feet dont hurt as bad. Also I switch between barefoot and some supportive slides depending on how my arches feel.

An anti fatigue mat and some cushioned crocs totally fixed my foot pain issue.
