Swapped my cheap mouse for a trackball last week and my wrist stopped hurting
I was getting this shooting pain in my wrist after 8 hours of editing, figured it was carpal tunnel starting. Bought a $25 Kensington trackball on a whim and three days later the pain is basically gone. Anyone else made a switch that fixed a physical problem you thought was just part of the job?

shooting pain" describes it perfectly. I switched to a vertical mouse and it fixed mine.

Hold up, is it really that serious though? I mean, I get that wrist pain sucks (I've had it too) but calling it "shooting pain" and acting like you dodged a bullet with a trackball feels a bit dramatic for something that might just be temporary soreness. Lots of people get a little achey after long stretches of typing, but it usually goes away with a break or some stretches. I'd be curious if the pain actually comes back after a few weeks, or if it's just the placebo of buying something new. Not trying to rain on your parade, but I think we need a longer trial before we start calling it a miracle fix.
