Finally caved and used a pricing calculator instead of guessing
I used to just throw out random numbers for web design projects and hope for the best. Last month I tried that free calculator from the Freelancers Union and realized I was undercharging by like $400 on every single site build. Has anyone else tried one of those tools and had their mind blown?

Right, because realizing you're leaving money on the table is the best surprise ever.

Didn't used to see it that way honestly, I was all about just keeping the same prices and not rocking the boat. But after getting burned a couple times by not adjusting and seeing competitors swoop in I kinda had to admit I was wrong. It stings a little to realize you're the one leaving easy money behind, but it's better than being totally blind to it. Really shifted how I look at pricing now, for sure.

Is it really that big of a deal though? I mean yeah, you probably left some cash on the table, but it's not like you were losing money on every project. Unless you were working for free, it's just a learning curve we all go through.
