Just crossed $50k in earnings this year and it hit different

Ngl, I've been freelancing for 3 years and never hit that number before November. A client in Austin tried to talk me down from $75/hr to $50/hr last month and I actually stuck to my price for once. Has anyone else noticed that hitting a specific income goal makes you way more confident saying no to lowball offers?

Nothing like a few dollar signs to stiffen that backbone real quick.

Money really does change how people carry themselves. It's funny how someone who was all quiet and uncertain can suddenly find their voice when there's a paycheck or a bonus on the line. You see it everywhere - in construction, at the grocery store, even in how people talk to waitstaff.

Totally get what you mean about the waitstaff thing, that's a dead giveaway. I see it at the hardware store all the time too - some guy who seemed clueless five minutes ago suddenly knows EXACTLY what kind of pipe joint he needs once he realizes he's got a company card burning a hole in his pocket. It's like the confidence switch gets flipped and they turn into a completely different person, one who expects you to hop to it. Honestly it's kind of sad to watch because you know they'd be polite and unsure without that little boost.
