That $20 Fiverr logo gig I tried for a client back in March was a disaster

I needed a quick logo for a small project and figured I'd save time, so I paid a Fiverr seller $20. They sent me a design that looked like clip art from 2005, totally pixelated. I asked for revisions and they just changed the font color once. My client saw it and said it looked unprofessional, so I had to refund them and eat the cost. Has anyone else gotten burned by those cheap design gigs or is it just me?

Man that "just changed the font color once" part hit home. I had a similar thing last fall for a side hustle I was trying to get off the ground. Paid some guy $30 for a simple logo and he sent me something that looked like it was made in Microsoft Word 2003 with that WordArt effect. I asked for a revision and he sent the exact same thing but in red instead of blue. The worst part was he got all defensive when I asked for a proper redesign. Ended up just making the logo myself in Canva in like 15 minutes and it looked way better. That whole Fiverr experience taught me you really do get what you pay for.

Read somewhere that Fiverr's basically become a race to the bottom with designers who just use templates and charge pennies. Sounds like you got one of those guys who just has a folder of 10 pre-made logos and changes the colors. I actually saw a breakdown of this whole problem on a design blog, where they tested 50 different cheap logo gigs and something like 40 of them were just minor tweaks on stock templates. Really makes you wonder how many people just give up on their business ideas after paying for crap work like that instead of trying Canva themselves. Glad you figured it out though, sometimes the DIY route is the only way to get what you actually want.

Oh boy, this takes me back. I read somewhere that a lot of those cheap gigs are just reselling the same set of basic templates over and over. It's sad because a good logo can really make a small business look legit, but these folks just burn people's money and motivation. Glad you figured out Canva though, sometimes the simple tools are the best ones.
