Used to think Upwork was a race to the bottom until I saw my friend's profile
My buddy has been on Upwork for 2 years and makes $65 an hour doing the same kind of writing I was selling for $15. He showed me his profile setup - he leads with a specific niche portfolio, not a general one. Has anyone else seen a big jump just from narrowing your focus?

Ngl, was the big difference just the niche or did he also change how he pitched clients once he narrowed his focus?

Both things changed. The niche let him stop sounding desperate because he actually KNEW who he was pitching to. Before that, every call was him trying to figure out if they even needed his stuff mid conversation. That's exhausting and clients can smell it. Once he got specific, his pitch basically became "you have this problem, I've fixed it for people like you before, want to talk?" No more guessing games. The confidence came from knowing exactly where his value landed instead of hoping something stuck.

The confidence shift probably mattered more than the niche itself if you ask me lol
