Hot take: You can cut your refi closing costs by half if you ask for the rate sheet on a Tuesday
My lender in Austin quoted me $4,200 in fees last month, but after I called on a Tuesday afternoon and asked for the raw rate sheet (not the marked-up version), they dropped it to $2,100 with the same APR. Has anyone else tried negotiating mid-week like this?

lol I used to just pay whatever they told me but "raw rate sheet" is actually genius, totally changing how I do this next time.

Right? Asking for the raw rate sheet is a GAME CHANGER. Just make sure you ask for it BEFORE they draw up the estimate.

Do it by email too so you have proof of the rate they promised.
