Warning: That client who says 'budget is no issue' is lying

I had a call last March with a guy named Mark who kept saying 'money isn't a problem' for his website redesign. He lived in Austin and talked for 45 minutes about wanting the best features, no limits. Then I sent a quote for $2,800 and he ghosted me completely. I wasted a whole afternoon on that call. Has anyone else had a client brag about unlimited budget then disappear when you give a real number?

This one time I had a guy from Seattle named Dave who talked about his "unlimited budget" for like an hour on a Zoom call. He wanted me to build a custom inventory system for his vintage video game collection. I quoted him $3,200 and he said "let me think about it" and then I never heard from him again. I checked his LinkedIn a month later and he was posting about how he "learned to budget better" lol. Its always the people who say money is no object that act like you asked for their firstborn child when you give them a real number.

Oh man @adam414, I had a guy named Brad who told me he had "FU money" and wanted a simple WordPress site, then ghosted me when I said $1,500. Two weeks later he hit me up asking if I could do it for $200 because his wife said they needed to save up for a vacation.

My friend's client bragged about millions then asked to trade a website for a used lawnmower.
