That $200 'premium' portfolio template I bought during a slow month
I was sitting on two weeks of zero work back in March and thought investing in a fancy portfolio template would bring in new clients. Paid $200 for this template pack that promised to 'wow' people instantly. Spent a whole weekend customizing it, only to realize it loaded like garbage on mobile phones. Got exactly zero leads from it and now I'm back to my old plain site that actually works. Anyone else blow money on something that seemed like a smart move during a drought?

Oh man, the "premium fonts" thing hits hard. You spend extra cash thinking you're leveling up and then realize you paid for something that looks like a high schooler's first Photoshop project. And yeah, that pizza and beer would definitely have been a better investment, at least you'd get some real joy out of it.

Right @rowan_ross, you ever buy a "premium" font pack that was basically just Papyrus with a slight curve? I dropped $50 on one once and it turned out to be the same basic sans serifs they use on gas station signs. A six-pack and a pepperoni pie would've made me way happier and actually filled me up.

...not to mention the "premium" fonts they used looked like they were picked by someone who still thinks Comic Sans is cool. I've learned the hard way that spending money on something fancy doesn't fix the real problem, which is usually just getting your basic stuff to actually work right. That $200 could have bought me a decent pizza and beer for a month instead.
