That one brutal week last February when everything fell apart at once
I had three projects lined up for the same week back in 2022 and all of them got postponed or canceled by Tuesday. One client's budget got frozen after their CFO quit, another found a cheaper designer on Fiverr, and the third just ghosted me after I sent the invoice for the deposit. I ended up spending that whole week cleaning my apartment and applying to 14 random gigs on Upwork just to feel like I was doing something. Has anyone else had a week where you lost more work in 48 hours than you made in the whole month before?

Figured out those Upwork algorithm changes were hiding freelancers without profile views last spring.

Wait, @iris_barnes87, wasn't that summer instead?

Iris, that's an interesting point about the Upwork algorithm changes, but I don't think it was actually last spring. I remember reading on their blog that the update rolled out in late summer 2023, around August or September. They shifted to favor profiles with recent job completions and client feedback, not just views. I only know because I had the same problem and dug into it pretty deep after losing a bunch of invites in September.
