The $200 course about "slow season survival" was a total waste
I saw a lot of folks in here recommending that pricey online class from that marketing guru about getting through dry spells. I paid $200 for it last August, and honestly it was just common sense stuff repackaged with fancy charts. No real advice on how to find new customers when your regulars cancel. I would have been better off just talking to three other cleaners in my area. Has anyone else bought a course or book that was supposed to help with slow months but turned out to be useless?

Did your buddy ever try to get their money back? I had a friend who bought a similar course about landscaping in the off season and all it said was "network more and save up," which he already knew. He ended up getting more useful tips from a free Facebook group for local handymen.

And that's the thing, right? I've spent so much money on "expert" advice over the years, like signing up for a gardening class that basically said "plant stuff and water it." I'm pretty sure I could have written that myself for free. Your friend's experience sounds exactly like mine, except I didn't even get the "network more" tip. I got a lot of vague stuff about "mindset" and "pushing through." Honestly, I've learned more from random YouTube comments and the old guys at the hardware store than any course I've ever paid for. Maybe I should just start charging people for the obvious advice I've been paying for, I'd probably make a killing.

My cousin bought a "be your own boss" course and it literally told him to "just work harder than everyone else" for 200 bucks. He got better advice from the guy who runs the donut shop down the street.
