Why does nobody talk about bartering with old clients when work dries up

I traded a full website redesign for a landscaping project worth about $600 last February when I had zero cash jobs lined up, has anyone else swapped services to fill the slow gaps?

Ngl my brain fog right now is actually impressive. I spent 3 hours debugging a CSS issue yesterday and my abs are probably crying from sitting still instead of doing actual crunches. My posture's gone from 'gym bro' to 'internet goblin' real quick. Honestly the only thing burning is my laptop fan and my motivation.
