Just realized my quiet periods were harder because I stopped networking

Had coffee with an old freelancer buddy in Seattle last week and she pointed out I only reach out when I'm desperate for work. She said she spends 2 hours every Tuesday just checking in with past clients and peers, no agenda. Has anyone else noticed their slow seasons line up with when they go silent online?

Yeah I used to think networking was just hustling for leads but this makes total sense now.

Oh man, that friend sounds like she has her stuff together. I once had a dry spell that lasted almost four months and I was convinced the market was just dead. Turns out I had ghosted basically everyone after a bad project and nobody knew I was still freelancing. I even changed my LinkedIn photo to a blurry one from 2017 and forgot about it.
