Warning: That "easy" quarterly tax filing in April cost me $300 more than last year
Switched from a CPA to doing it myself and somehow missed a deduction I'd claimed for 3 years - the home office square footage rule changed between 2022 and 2023 and nobody told me, has anyone else gotten burned by those IRS form updates slipping through?

Heard a tax pro on Bloomberg say the square footage rules got streamlined last year.

2,000 square feet for the standard deduction? I had no idea it went that high. Wait, @shane_morgan, are you serious about the square footage rules? I thought the IRS was still making people measure every closet and hallway. That would be wild if they actually made it simpler, I can't believe a tax pro said that on Bloomberg.
