Found a trick for sick day meal prep that saved me
Got hit with a cold last Tuesday. No energy to cook. Usually just eat crackers and feel worse. Tried pre-making a big batch of ginger-chicken soup on Sunday instead. Froze it in single serving mason jars. Total cost was like $12 for 8 portions. Thaw one in the sink while I work from bed. Anyone else got a go-to sick day meal they prep ahead?

Mason jars for soup? That's wild, I always figured they'd shatter in the freezer. You don't get any cracks or leaks when you thaw em? I use those ziplock twist n lock containers but they always stain orange from the turmeric. Might have to try the jars if they hold up better.

My buddy Mark tried the mason jar thing and one cracked in his sink while thawing. Said hot water hit it wrong and glass went everywhere, had to pick chunks out of the drain. He sticks to those plastic takeout containers now after that mess.

Oh you put it in mason jars? That's genius. I do something similar but with a big pot of congee, I add ginger and shredded chicken. I freeze it in those cheap plastic soup containers from the dollar store. When im sick I just microwave a bowl and it comes out perfect, way better than crackers.
