Had to turn down a $1,200 job last week because I was too sick to think straight
Last Tuesday I woke up with a 102 fever and a client was expecting a draft by noon. I sat there staring at my screen for an hour before I realized I was making zero sense in my comments. Called them up and said I needed 48 hours to recover, no exceptions. They found someone else but honestly I would have done way more damage rushing it. Anybody else have to kill a paycheck just to keep from burning a bridge?

That 102 fever story is rough man, my brother had something similar last winter. How long did it take before you felt like you could actually trust your own work again after that? Because I know for me it took a couple days even after the fever broke before I wasn't second guessing every edit.

Had a buddy in the trades who ate a $800 job because he showed up with the flu and nearly broke a customer's water heater. Ended up costing him way more in parts and bad word of mouth. Smart call on your end.

Hate seeing someone learn that lesson the hard way. That's a rough spot to be in, feeling like you gotta push through but ending up worse off for it. Your buddy probably feels terrible about the whole thing, but it's not like he meant to cause trouble. Hope he gets back on his feet without too much hassle. Sounds like you made the smarter move by just staying home.
