That vitamin C + zinc thing I laughed at actually helped
I used to think those immune boost pills were a waste of $15. Then last February I was solo with a bad cold and missed 3 days of work. Started taking those tablets and my next cold lasted maybe 2 days shorter. Has anyone else found a cheap supplement that actually does something when you're freelancing sick?

Wait, has anyone else noticed that stuff like this actually works in weird small ways? Like I used to think herbal tea was worthless till I started drinking it before bed and actually slept better. Its probably not a miracle cure but sometimes cheap things do their job if you give them a chance. The placebo argument is valid but honestly if my brain can trick itself into getting over a cold faster then lets call it a win. At least I'm not downing those expensive emergen-c packets that taste like crushed up aspirin.

Placebo or not, the zinc specifically has some science behind it. There's actual studies showing zinc lozenges can shorten cold duration if you take them right when symptoms start. Vitamin C is more of a toss up but for some people it does something. The trick is timing. You cant wait until you're already miserable and expect instant results. The cheap stuff works if you catch it early enough. Your brain can only trick itself so far, but zinc actually messes with virus replication in your throat.
