TIL my sick day 'buffer' system needed a total rethink after 3 hours lost
Honestly, I thought I had it figured out with this buffer system where I'd leave 4 hours free each day for unexpected sick time. Then last Tuesday I got hit with a stomach bug and spent those 3 hours just staring at my screen trying to type. Turns out pushing through the fog only made the work worse and I ended up redoing it the next day. Anyone else find that their backup plan for sick days just falls apart when you're actually ill?

Tbh, my backup plan is usually just lying on the floor regretting everything.

Right. The floor is actually a very underrated life planning surface. I've spent countless hours there just staring at the ceiling fan, letting my brain reboot like a really old computer that needs to be smacked. It's amazing how much clarity you get when your spine is flat against the carpet and you can feel all the crumbs from last week's snacks poking into your back. Sometimes I even do a little troubleshooting while I'm down there, like "okay, what's the one tiny thing I could do to not be on this floor in an hour?" which usually just leads to me staying on the floor until I have to pee. So yeah, it's a solid backup plan.

The fan is a good touch. I count the blades spinning until I forget what I was worried about.
