Changed my mind about packing cubes after that disastrous trip to Chicago last month
Had 4 flights in 6 days and my backpack was a tangled mess until I borrowed a friend's set of packing cubes on day 3 and suddenly finding my charger at 5 AM in a dark hotel room was actually possible, has anyone else had a specific trip that made them cave on something they swore they'd never use?

4 flights in 6 days sounds like a nightmare, but I gotta say, packing cubes aren't really meant for organizing chargers. You're supposed to use a separate tech pouch for cables and power bricks, cubes are more for clothes and keeping them from shifting around. People mix that up all the time, and then blame the cubes when their charger is still a mess. But I get why you changed your mind, having your clothes stay put makes a big difference when you're living out of a bag for almost a week. Just wish someone had told me that years ago instead of me figuring it out the hard way.

Switched to a small separate pouch for my cables after my first big trip and never looked back. The little elastic loops in mine keep everything from turning into a knotty mess, and I just toss the whole thing in my backpack. Made living out of a bag way less frustrating, have you found a pouch style that works for you?

Did you try the compression cubes too? I was skeptical at first but they actually cut my pile down by like a third. Pair them with a flat tech organizer that has elastic loops for cables and you're set. I use a thin one from Amazon Basics, costs like 12 bucks and keeps everything from becoming a tangled mess in my bag. Clothes stay neat and chargers stay put, easy solution once you stop expecting one thing to do everything.
