Used to shove everything into one closet, now I actually measure our space
For three years I just crammed holiday decorations, camping gear, and old coats into our hall closet without any plan. Last month I finally grabbed a tape measure and found out we had 18 inches of wasted vertical room above the shelves. I added two cheap wire racks from Home Depot for $12 each and now everything has a spot. My wife asked why I didn't do this back when we moved in 2021. Anyone else spend way too long ignoring basic math before fixing a space problem?

Is it really that serious though?

I mean I used to be the kind of person who thought measuring was overthinking it. Like why bother with numbers when you can just shove stuff in and hope for the best right? But then I tried to fit a storage bin under my bed and realized it was two inches too tall because I never measured the clearance. That was a real wake up call. Now I actually pull out a tape measure before buying anything and it saves me so much return trip hassle. Idk maybe it's just me but that little bit of math makes a huge difference.
