My productivity tanked for 3 months until I changed my morning routine

I used to wake up and check emails right away, then scroll social media for 30 minutes. After 3 months of that, I was finishing work at 8 PM every day and felt completely drained. I switched to doing my hardest task first thing for 60 minutes before even opening my phone. My energy is way better now and I actually finish by 2 PM most days. Has anyone else tried a different morning setup that helped with focus?

I read once that your brain's decision-making energy is highest in the first hour of the day, so saving hard tasks for later is basically setting yourself up to fail lol. Doing the biggest thing first makes sense because you're not bogged down by all the little stuff yet. I've been trying something similar with my own mornings and it's wild how much calmer I feel by noon.

That "decision-making energy" thing is real. I've noticed the same pattern applies to big life stuff too, not just daily tasks. Tackling the heavy conversations or tough chores first thing just clears the air for everything else.

Huh, I kinda wonder if we're overthinking this a little. I mean, yeah, mornings are nice and all, but I've had plenty of days where my brain just refuses to cooperate in the first hour no matter what. Seems like a lot of pressure to put on yourself to nail the "big thing" before you've even had coffee. Personally I think it's more about just starting something, even if it's small, and not worrying so much about the exact timing.
