Shoutout to the guy who told me to ditch hourly billing for web dev
My buddy Mark warned me 6 months ago that hourly rates would cap my income, so I switched to flat project fees and doubled my pay last quarter. Has anyone else made that swap and seen a big jump?

Used to swear by hourly billing myself, thought it was the only fair way. Then a client dragged a 10 hour project into 40 hours and I saw the light. Flat fees force you to actually value your work, not just your time.

Ngl I had a similar wake up call when I quoted a flat fee for what I thought was a straightforward logo and the client kept asking for "one more little tweak" for like three weeks straight. Honestly at the end I was doing the math in my head and realized I was making like two bucks an hour after all those revisions. Tbh flat fees at least make you draw a line in the sand upfront and say this is what you get for this price, not a blank check for my time.
