Spilled coffee on my laptop at a Starbucks in Portland and it rewired my whole freelance workflow
I was camped out at a Starbucks in Portland last Tuesday trying to finish a logo draft, and my water bottle leaked all over my keyboard and fried the thing. Had to borrow my friend's old Chromebook for a week and it forced me to use cloud storage for everything instead of local files. Has anyone else had a random disaster like a spill or crash that actually made you organize your stuff better?

Spilled tea on my MacBook last year and it forced me to use Dropbox which was a BLESSING for my files.

Ngl I heard cloud storage is the way to go after something like that. @viola_garcia56 feel you on that.

DUDE. Spilled a full mug of hot coffee on my laptop at a local diner last spring and it was the SAME exact thing. Fried the hard drive, lost a bunch of client files I hadn't backed up anywhere. I was SO mad at first. But now I literally keep EVERYTHING in Google Drive and my Dropbox folder syncs automatically. It's a pain when the internet gets spotty but honestly I sleep WAY better at night knowing my stuff isn't sitting on one machine waiting to die. The worst part was going through old emails to re-download stuff, which forced me to finally name my files something that wasn't "final_final_v3.jpg".
