Had a client talk over me for 10 minutes then ask what I thought
Last week I was on a call with a guy from San Diego who wanted me to redo his bathroom plumbing. He spent the whole first 10 minutes telling me about his vision, his tile choices, and why his uncle said it should be done a certain way. When he finally stopped for air he goes "so what do you think?" and I hadn't said a single word yet. I told him straight up "you didn't let me talk" and then he actually laughed and apologized. Has anyone else dealt with someone who just keeps going without letting you get a word in?

Read this article about how sales guys get trained to just keep talking until the other person caves. Makes sense now. Just gotta cut them off sometimes.

You ever had one of those guys who treats you like a therapist instead of someone who does the actual work? I had a guy last month who talked for 20 minutes straight about his vinyl plank dreams and then acted surprised when I said "you haven't asked me a single question yet." The trick I learned is to just put your hand up like a stop sign. Not rude, just a gentle pause. Like @brian_hart said, sales types are trained to keep going, but you gotta remember you're the one with the skills they need. If they want your opinion, they gotta let you speak first. Quickest way to get their attention is to say "hey, I can't help you if I can't get a word in." Usually wakes them up.
