That home office deduction calculator on the IRS site actually saved me $800 this year

I always avoided the home office deduction because I thought it was too complicated. Last tax season I finally sat down with the IRS worksheet and measured my desk space. Turns out my 120 square foot corner of the apartment counted for 12% of my rent and utilities. Claimed it and got a nice $800 refund boost. Anyone else sleep on this deduction for years?

Totally changed my mind too, I used to think it was just a red flag for an audit but the IRS literally gives you the worksheet.

Right Kevin @kevin_williams, that worksheet REALLY changed my whole outlook on it too. Simple stuff but SO eye opening.

Wow, wait - the IRS actually provides a worksheet for this? I never would have guessed they'd make something that practical. That changes a lot of what I thought about dealing with them on this topic.
