My $75 laser measure paid for itself on the first apartment inspection after I fought with a tape measure for 3 years
I was dead set against buying one because I figured it would be inaccurate or die on me, but after measuring a 40-foot warehouse in under 30 seconds and getting within a quarter inch of the floor plans, I can't believe I wasted so much time crawling around with a metal tape... anyone else have a tool they swore off until they actually tried it?

Whoa hold on, I gotta push back on this lol. I actually went the opposite direction - bought a laser measure thinking it would be a game changer and ended up going back to my tape measure after a week. That thing gave me false confidence with its instant readings, then I'd double check with a tape and be off by like an inch or more. Bright sunlight made the laser dot invisible past 20 feet, and the battery died halfway through measuring a garage. I'll take crawling around with a metal tape over wondering if my tool is lying to me any day.

Yeah, I was the same way with a battery powered stapler. Thought it would jam constantly or just not have enough power. Picked one up to do some ceiling work and it saved me a ton of time wrestling with a manual one overhead. Really depends on the job though, some days I still grab the old manual one for smaller stuff.
