PSA: that 'quick logo update' request that took 3 months
I had a client in Austin ask for a 'simple color tweak' to their logo back in March. By June it had ballooned into 27 revision rounds (yes I counted) because the boss's wife kept changing her mind. Has anyone else had a tiny scope creep turn into a total project hijack?

27 rounds is a lot, but is it really that serious? I had a project go 14 rounds because the client kept asking for "warmer" colors. Round 3 was just as warm as round 1, but they never said which part of the logo needed warming. Sounds like you could have ended it at round 10 with a clear "what exactly is wrong here?" Instead of letting it drift. Sometimes we overcomplicate things by letting people refine just to feel involved.

Did the boss's wife at least give clear feedback in those 27 rounds, or was it more like "can we try a different blue" with no specifics? I'm genuinely curious how many of those revisions were actually useful versus just shuffling deck chairs. Sounds like you ended up doing unpaid design work for 3 months because nobody wanted to say no to the client's spouse lol

Honestly the worst part is when they hit 'round 15' and you realize they're just refining random things that didn't matter in version 3. Tbh a simple "what's the one thing you want to change most" per round cuts all that shuffling real quick. Ngl setting a hard limit before you start saves everyone time and your sanity.
