The 'always say yes' advice nearly wrecked my schedule last month
Everyone online keeps saying to say yes to every opportunity, but I took that too far in September. I agreed to a rush project from a guy named Dan in Austin for a $800 flat fee, thinking it would build connections. Instead, I worked 14-hour days for 10 days straight and had to tell three regular clients I was delayed. Has anyone else had to unlearn this 'yes' rule to keep their life from falling apart?

Yeah that 'say yes' thing is trash advice. I started saying no to at least half the stuff that comes my way and it keeps my schedule from blowing up.

That "say yes" thing really is trash. I used to force myself to agree to everything and ended up miserable. @sagejackson you hit it, the mental health boost from just picking what actually matters is huge. I used to go to every boring work happy hour just because I felt obligated. Now I only show up if I genuinely want to, and it's amazing how much better I feel.

Oh man, for real though. Saying yes to everything is how you end up with zero time for yourself and a ton of regret. I started applying that same rule but with social stuff specifically. At first my friends were like "why you always bailing" but now they get it. Like no I don't need to be at every random house party or group dinner that pops up. It's honestly freeing just picking the things that actually sound fun or matter. My mental health is way better for it.
