Found out last week that 60% of my late payments were just wrong email addresses on file
I was digging through old invoices after a client claimed they never got one, and realized six different contacts had typos in their domains. How do you all check that without sounding like you're blaming them?

Oh man, that's such a pain! It's like how nobody double-checks their own info anymore, we just assume everything's right until something blows up.

Yeah but how do you even verify it without it turning into this whole awkward thing? Like do you just ask them to read back their email address while you're on the phone with them? That feels weird if they think you're calling them out for a typo they probably didn't even make (or maybe their assistant did, who knows). I've been in that spot where I sent a test email right there on the call without saying why, just to see if it bounced back. Feels sneaky but honestly it's the only way that doesn't make people defensive. Don't you think that's kind of the move?
