Net 30 vs. payment on completion - I learned the hard way
Took a big landscaping job in Phoenix with Net 30 terms. Didn't see a dime for 72 days. Switched to payment on completion for the next one and got a check right after the final walkthrough. Anyone else ditch Net 30 for good?

70 days is brutal. I used to think Net 30 was just standard for every job, no questions asked. But after watching a neighbor wait 4 months for his patio payment I totally flipped my view. Now I do a small deposit upfront and the rest on the day we finish, no exceptions.

Cannot believe someone would wait 4 months with no payment plan in writing. That's a whole season of free labor and materials right there. Glad you flipped your view before it happened to you too.

My cousin runs a handyman crew and he had a customer last year who kept saying "I'll have the money next week" for three months straight. He finally showed up with a truck and took back the materials he installed. Customer called the cops but there was no contract so nothing they could do. Messy situation all around.
