Shoutout to that $300 bookkeeping software I bought last year
I dropped $300 on a fancy bookkeeping tool because everyone on here said it would save my freelance business from tax mess. Turns out it overcomplicated everything and cost me a week of my life sorting out wrong reports. Did anyone else waste money on a tool that just made things harder instead of easier?

And that tool charged extra for basic reports you could do in Excel for free.

Heard this exact thing from my buddy Mark last week. He paid for a reporting add-on for some project management tool and it literally just made pie charts and bar graphs. @kelly_rivera is spot on, he could have done the same thing in Excel in five minutes with data he already had. Felt bad for the guy, he was pretty annoyed about wasting fifty bucks on something so basic.

Man @kelly_rivera you gotta tell me what tool this was. Was it one of those fancy "all-in-one" platforms that nickel and dime you for every little feature? I swear these companies just rename SUM formulas and charge $20 a month for it. Like, they take a basic pivot table, slap a logo on it, and call it "advanced analytics." Feels like a total scam when you realize Excel has been doing it since 1995. What was the final straw for your friend?
