That $250 'quick' trademark search tool turned into a $900 nightmare
I figured I'd save some cash and do my own trademark search using one of those cheap online tools. Found a site that promised a thorough check in 24 hours, cost me $250. Turns out their database was 6 months old, missed a similar name in a different class, and I ended up filing an application that got rejected. Lawyer had to fix it for another $650 out of pocket. Anybody else learned the hard way that bargain hunting on legal stuff costs more in the long run?

Girl, I feel your pain so much. My husband tried to save us money by using one of those $30 online "company formation" sites and they messed up our filing so bad we had to pay a real lawyer $350 to straighten it out, plus late fees because the state kicked it back. It's like those cheap tools are designed to get you just far enough to mess things up (and then they don't warn you about the hidden landmines). The worst part is we even had a weird feeling about it but went cheap anyway because we were trying to be frugal. Now I always remind myself that cutting corners on legal stuff is like buying a car with no brakes it seems like a good deal until you're in a ditch.
