That home office deduction took me 3 full weekends to sort out
I figured claiming my home office would be simple since I use a spare bedroom for work 40 hours a week. But I spent the first weekend just measuring the room and calculating the square footage of my whole apartment. Then the second weekend I was stuck figuring out the direct vs simplified method and kept changing my mind. The third weekend I finally called the IRS helpline and the lady on the phone said I needed Form 8829. Has anyone else found the home office deduction way trickier than expected?

Dude same, I literally spent like 4 weeks on that thing. Had to remeasure my whole place three times cause I kept messing up the square footage math.

oh man my buddy luke went through the exact same nightmare with his home office build. he measured his room like five times and still ended up with a desk that was like 2 inches too wide for the space. had to take it apart and cut the legs down with a saw in his parking lot at midnight.
