The $300 bookkeeping software I bought last January that I never even opened
I got caught up in all the ads saying I needed some fancy automated system, but my old spreadsheet does the exact same thing for free. Has anyone else dropped cash on a tool that just collected digital dust on your computer?

And nobody wants to admit that half the time it's not even about using the tool. It's about the fantasy of the person you'll become when you finally sit down and learn it. You bought the spreadsheet upgrade because Future You is organized and on top of things, not because Current You actually needed it. We're all just paying for a version of ourselves that exists in our heads.

Man that $300 price tag hits different when you realize you never even clicked the install button. What made you think the spreadsheet wasn't cutting it in the first place?
