TIL my home office deduction saved me $840 this year

I finally added up every utility bill and square footage and the number was way bigger than I guessed, has anyone else been surprised by how much that deduction actually adds up?

and honestly the first year I did mine I was kicking myself for not doing it sooner. the square footage calculation plus all those utility percentages adds up way faster than you think. its one of those things where once you actually sit down with the receipts you realize how much of your home is really going toward work stuff.

Don't forget home internet deductions if you game test on the clock.

The first year I did my taxes after starting remote work I was so paranoid about getting audited that I literally measured every room in my house with a tape measure three times. Ended up claiming like 8% of my apartment because I figured my desk setup and the hallway to the bathroom counted as work space lol. Still not sure if I did it right but hey the IRS hasnt knocked on my door yet.
