Switched from PayPal to direct bank transfers for my tiny Fiverr gigs
I used to just eat the PayPal fees because it was easier, but after losing $12 in a single month on a $50 job I finally got annoyed enough to change. My bank now takes 3 days instead of instant but I keep that $12 for myself now. Anyone else switch payment methods just to dodge fees?

Oh man, I gotta disagree a little here lol. I mean yeah $12 adds up over time but for me the headache of waiting 3 days for money when I need it now just isnt worth it. Especially when you're living paycheck to paycheck or something pops up unexpected. PayPal fees feel like a tax on convenience sure but convenience actually matters when you're scraping by. Plus I've had direct deposits get delayed for stupid reasons like bank holidays or random holds and that stress is worse than losing a few bucks. I'd rather pay the $12 and have my money right away than save it and stress about when it'll show up.

Wait and see if it actually matters. I track every penny going in and out, and that $12 is gas money or half a lunch. Plus PayPal's exchange rates are worse than my bank's, so I save a couple extra bucks there too. But I'm still checking my bank statement twice a week just to make sure nothing got lost.

Used to be on team Paypal for the same reasons, convenience over everything. But after seeing dianawilson's point about living paycheck to paycheck, it hit different. That $12 I save now actually fills my gas tank halfway, so the 3 day wait feels way more worth it now than it used to.

Direct bank transfers can flag as fraud if you get too many in a row from different people, had that mess up my cash flow one time. Just something to keep an eye on.
