Hot take: Skipping the dryer made my tiny home work better
I quit using a dryer after my move to a tiny house. The appliance took up too much room and cost a lot to run. Now I dry my clothes on a folding rack I keep in a closet. My power bill is lower, which helps with my tight budget. Items like jeans and shirts last longer without the heat. It did take some time to get used to the extra step. My small space just functions smoother without that big machine.

Tbh that sounds like a huge pain, especially in humid weather or with bigger stuff like towels. A folding rack still eats up floor space when it's out, and you're waiting days for things to dry. Modern small dryers are pretty efficient and save you tons of time, which is worth the cost for me. Ngl, having that machine is what makes my small space work.

Humidity totally kills the rack method, learned that the hard way in my old apartment... had to use a fan just to get things halfway dry. If you've got the space, a small dryer changes everything, no joke. Just watch out for venting issues in tight spots, that can be a real headache. Sometimes the convenience is worth the upfront cost, you know? Still, gotta admit, racks are cheap and work okay if you're patient.

Honestly, you're so right about humidity ruining the rack method. Tbh, I dealt with the same damp clothes problem in my old basement apartment, and it drove me crazy. Gray_hall4 is spot on about how much time a small dryer saves, making tight living spaces way more manageable. Ngl, after caving and getting a portable dryer, my laundry routine feels almost easy now. Even with the venting setup being a bit fussy, the trade-off for dry towels in an hour is totally worth it.
