Just realized my dryer sheet habit was wrecking my towels

My buddy Mark at the laundromat in Austin pointed out the waxy buildup after I complained about them not drying right. Has anyone else noticed this or am I the only one still using those things?

See, I gotta disagree with that hot wash and vinegar trick. I tried that exact thing last year and it barely made a dent in the buildup. Some of us just have hard water (or in my case, a building with ancient pipes) that makes the waxy layer cling like crazy.

Is it really that big of a deal? I've been using the same dryer sheets for years and my towels still seem fine to me. Might just be time to throw them in a hot wash cycle with some vinegar.

Is it really that much of a hassle to switch things up, though? I get where you're coming from, my towels felt fine for years until I finally tried washing them without any softener and noticed a huge difference in how much water they actually soak up. It's one of those things you don't realize until you change it.
