Tried a $30 used tablet as a second monitor, definitely not what I expected

I snagged an old Samsung Galaxy Tab off Facebook Marketplace for $30 last week to use with a free app as a second screen while editing photos. Figured it would be laggy and dim, but honestly it works shockingly well for keeping my email and Slack off my main monitor. The brightness is kinda garbage if the sun hits it though. Has anyone else tried a cheap tablet setup like this and found a decent stand for it?

Whoa, that actually sounds like a solid $30. I've been thinking about how a cheap slab like that could be a dedicated lyrics display for karaoke nights or recording covers. Might be worth trying if you already got the screen.

Calling it a "dedicated lyrics display" feels like overkill for a $30 screen. Like, it's just a cheap tablet for scrolling text, not some studio grade piece of gear. You really gonna set up a whole second device just to read lyrics you could have on your phone?

mitchell.thomas that actually reminds me a buddy of mine uses an old Fire tablet just for his band's setlist and lyrics during shows. He glued a cheap popsocket on the back and rests it on a mic stand clamp mount. $30 is way cheaper than those dedicated teleprompter screens.
