Crossed $5k in a single month for the first time and it changed how I price things

I always thought raising rates would scare people off, but hitting that number made me realize I was undervaluing myself for years. Has anyone else had a milestone that forced them to rethink their whole pricing strategy?

@andrew_baker9 nailed it with that glass ceiling thing. Same boat here, hitting a certain number just flips a switch in your head. The fear of losing clients keeps you stuck way longer than it should. Once you cross that threshold, you realize the people who actually value your work don't care about a 10-20% bump. Keep pushing it, that mental block is the only thing holding you back.

Man I used to be the exact same way, thought any increase would just make people run off... but once I saw that number it clicked that the right clients don't even flinch at higher rates. It's like your own brain puts a glass ceiling on what you think you're worth until something proves it wrong. That $5k mark really does shift your whole perspective on pricing.

Man, that exact thing happened to me. I was stuck at $3k for like two years thinking I'd hit my ceiling, then one month I pushed myself to try a slightly bigger project and ended up at $5k. After that, I bumped my base rate by 20% and didn't lose a single client. @andrew_baker9 is right, it is a glass ceiling in your own head. For me, the trick was offering existing clients a small add-on first to test the waters, then raising new client rates. Once you see them say yes without flinching, it's like a weight lifts off your shoulders.
