My backup drive died mid-project and I lost two days of edits

Was working on a freelance copywriting gig for a local bakery near Queen and Spadina, and my external hard drive just gave out with a click sound yesterday. Lost all my revisions from Monday and Tuesday, had to redo them from memory while the client kept asking for updates. I emailed the drive manufacturer but I'm not hopeful, anyone had luck recovering data from a Seagate that just stopped spinning?

Freezer trick worked for mine. Stick it in a bag for an hour.

My friend tried this with a pair of jeans that were always too snug. She stuck em in a freezer bag for like two hours. When she pulled em out, the fabric was stiff but not frozen solid. She put em on right away and they fit way better, like the cold relaxed the fibers or something. Worked for her, but only lasted a day before they shrunk back up. Still, it gave her enough time to wear them to a party without feeling uncomfortable.

She said the fibers "relaxed" which is interesting. I did something similar once with a wool sweater that always felt tight in the arms. I put it in a plastic bag and left it in the fridge overnight, not the freezer. It was a little damp when I took it out and put it on, and the arms felt looser for most of the day. But yeah, it went back to being tight after it dried out completely. Kind of a hassle for one wear.
