Comparing $200 professional photos to my phone pics for gig listings

I used to just snap quick phone pictures of my finished handyman jobs before posting them online. Then I paid a photographer $200 for a set of listing photos and my response rate went way up. Has anyone else noticed a big difference when they invest in better visuals for their portfolio?

Hold on, phone pics are totally fine for handyman gigs. People just want to see you did the work, not some fancy staged shot. Spending $200 seems overkill when a well lit pic from your phone shows the same result without the extra cost.

Well, I finally upgraded from my blurry phone pics to professional photos and suddenly my listings went from 'looks like I took these with a potato' to actually professional. Funny how spending $200 on images that aren't mostly shadows and thumbprints helps people take you seriously." That's exactly what happened to me. I think my phone photos made my work look like I'd done the job with a hammer made of butter. The $200 was worth it just to stop getting people asking if those dark blobs in the corners were water damage or just poor lighting.

You ever think maybe the real value is in the trust it builds, not just the pretty pictures? People see a pro photo and assume the work was pro level too, even before they read a word.
